Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

SeniorPop is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We recognize that our primary audience — seniors aged 65 and older — may have a wide range of visual, motor, cognitive, and hearing abilities. We take this responsibility seriously and continuously work to improve the accessibility and usability of our website.

Standards We Follow

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. Our accessibility efforts include:

Large, Readable Text

Minimum 18px body text across the entire site, with clear heading hierarchy and high-contrast color combinations.

High Contrast Design

All text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) against backgrounds.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, menus) are fully accessible via keyboard navigation.

Screen Reader Compatibility

Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and proper heading structure ensure screen readers can interpret our content.

Large Click/Tap Targets

Buttons and interactive elements are at least 48x48 pixels for easy interaction on all devices.

Clear, Simple Language

Content is written in plain language at an 8th-grade reading level, avoiding unnecessary jargon.

Responsive Design

The site works well on all screen sizes, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.

Form Accessibility

All form fields have visible labels, clear error messages, and logical tab order.

Assistive Technologies

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom (up to 200% without loss of content or functionality)

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Some third-party embedded content may not fully meet accessibility standards
  • PDF documents linked from our site may not be fully accessible (we are working to remediate these)
  • Interactive calculators and tools are continuously being improved for screen reader compatibility
